The Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation recently hosted its 11th annual Raksha 5K Run/Walk for Distraction-Free Driving. NorthstarMLS sponsored again in Hugh Trimble’s honor, our former Rules & Regulations Administrator.

NorthstarMLS President & CEO John Mosey addressed participants on why we support tougher distraction-free driving laws with our DriveFocused campaign. Watch what he had to say about Hugh and the importance to our real estate industry in this 2-minute video.

Proceeds from the event benefited the Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community on safe and distraction-free driving.

It’s hard to believe, but Sunday (July 23) will mark one year since the passing of our colleague and friend, Hubert “Hugh” Skanes-Cady (Trimble). He tragically lost his life as the result of a motor vehicle crash when he was rear ended while riding his motorcycle. It was an extremely sad and difficult time for all of us.

For over 15 years, Hugh administered the NorthstarMLS rules and regulations with expert knowledge and guidance, kindness and humor. He was one-of-a-kind. We greatly miss his presence and hearing his unequivocal voice and laugh around our office.

Drive Focused Pledge Site
In Hugh’s memory, we introduced our Drive Focused campaign last year to raise awareness and help put an end to distracted driving. Visit to watch our series of videos and take the pledge to #DriveFocused.

Join Us for a 5K Walk/Run
As part of our ongoing Drive Focused campaign, NorthstarMLS has partnered with the Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation to sponsor the 10th Annual Raksha 5K Walk and Run for Distracted-Free Driving on August 5, 2017 at Purgatory Creek Recreation Area in Eden Prairie. NorthstarMLS is sponsoring the 5K in Hugh’s name. The event is open to the public and we’re inviting all NorthstarMLS subscribers to join us.

Hands-Free Bill in MN
Our efforts have also extended to the government level where we have partnered with the Minnesota Safety Council to help push a hands-free bill that was introduced in MN last session. Unfortunately, the bill did not pass in 2017, but will be reintroduced early next session (February 2018). NorthstarMLS plans join forces with MSC again to help get this hands-free bill passed. Stay tuned.

WCCO News recently ran a feature on our own Hugh Trimble (Cady) in its “Life Story” segment. The video includes testimonial to Hugh’s strong ties to the real estate community through his position here at NorthstarMLS as Rules & Regulations Administrator. It is a well done tribute to Hugh who passed away from a motorcycle accident last month.

Watch the under 3-minute video on the WCCO website.

UPDATE: A GoFundMe site has been set up to help Hugh’s family with travel and lodging expenses so that they can be here with him during this crisis. You can access it here. (Search the site for Hubert Skanes-Cady)

If you have communicated with anyone from NorthstarMLS in person, or by phone/email, that was very likely Hugh Trimble. We often call Hugh the face and voice of NorthstarMLS because of his work with everyone on Rules & Regulations compliance. We are extremely sad to report that Hugh was involved in a motor cycle accident this week and is in serious condition. His family is maintaining a web page for him at the CaringBridge site with ongoing updates. You may access Hugh’s page here (you will need to register your name and email address on the site). You will find his page listed under “Hubert Skanes-Cady.” Click the “Journal” link for updates.

Hugh is an exceptionally friendly, funny, gregarious and family-loving man. We have had many calls and emails from MLS subscribers asking about his condition.  His role ensuring rules compliance is not always easy (or popular), but Hugh is always approachable and fair with this function that is critical to the integrity of the data you depend on every day. We have faith in Hugh’s ability to fight his injuries and pray for his recovery and strength for his family.

PLEASE NOTE: The family greatly appreciates everyone’s concern but asks that you not make phone calls to the hospital. All updates are on the CaringBridge link noted above. Thank you.
