Our next spotlight of upcoming NorthstarMLS Matrix enhancements (coming late October) is the addition of Map Pin Clustering in mapping. In previous versions of Matrix, maps would not display pins if the query results exceeded 500 results. In the new version, Matrix will group up to 5,000 pins and display them on the Map using dynamic clusters.

Locate Addresses in Map Search

Have a specific address that you’re searching for while doing a map search? When you’re conducting your map search in Matrix, click on “Jump to” (top right of map) and you’ll see a list of several options drop down. Since you already know your desired address, select the “Address…” option at the top of the list (circled in red below).

Once you’ve clicked on “Address…” a new search option will pop up in the middle of your map search screen (as seen below in screenshot). Now you can enter the information of the address that you’re searching for. Click “Locate” once you’ve entered the address information and your search results will be displayed.

Map with Thumbnails

With the recent Matrix upgrade, we have some great new mapping features. As some have noticed, we also lost the old map/thumbnail display. However, you can still recreate this with a new report and with the Driving Directions.

Report:

• In your search results, select all the properties you want to plot on the map.
• Click the “Print” button.
• At the bottom of the Reports list, select “Multi-Map.”
• Click one of the buttons to Print, Preview or Print to PDF.
• Your selected properties are all plotted and numbered with corresponding thumbnail displays. Click here to see an example.

Screen (Driving Directions):

• In your search results, select all the properties you want to plot on the map.
• Click the “Directions” button.
• Although you may not need the Turn-by-Turn Directions portion, you do have your selected properties all plotted and numbered with corresponding thumbnail displays.

If you want to search in a specific area within the Realist tax software, you can use a map search. To access Realist, click the “Realist Tax” tab in Matrix. Then in Realist, click on the My Search tab at the top left.

Next, click on the pencil icon in the map menu at the top right and choose a shape to draw. (In this example, we used the Radius Tool).

To begin drawing your shape, click on the map near your desired location. Click again to set the desired radius of your circle.

Now click the blue “Search” button on the bottom left and browse the listings within the shape you have drawn.
